HARNET (Hong Kong) connected to TEIN2 backbone as non-beneficiary NREN on 27 Dec 2007 (new!)
Currently, the interconnection between TEIN2 backbone and HARNET is 9Mbps, and Hong Kong University is directly peering with TEIN2 HK POP on behalf of HARNET. HARNET is the wide area network which links up the campus networks of the eight tertiary institutions in Hong Kong.

TEIN2 NOC Workshop was held in Bandung on 16 May, 2007
During the TEIN2 13th Technical Committee Meeting in Bandung, TEIN2 NOC held NOC Workshop with TEIN2 NRENs and partners. The NOC Workshop was chaired by Prof. Xing Li, the Project Leader of TEIN2 NOC. The main topic of NOC Workshop was how to provide operation support for high performance application over TEIN2 networks.

TEIN2 NOC activated MPLS over TEIN2 backbone
In order to provide inter-AS L2/L3 VPN service to TEIN2 NRENs and Partners, TEIN2 NOC activated MPLS over TEIN2 backbone. Now TEIN2 NOC can accept the request from TEIN2 NRENs and Partners for MPLS inter-AS peering with TEIN2 backbone. So far, CERNET has activated inter-AS MPLS peering with TEIN2 backbone, and TEIN2 NOC is working with GEANT2 NOC on inter-AS MPLS peering between TEIN2 backbone and GEANT2.

Several TEIN2 circuits were damaged by Taiwan earthquake
Due to the serious damages from Taiwan earthquake on 26 December, 2006, a number of TEIN2 circuits were broken, including HK-JP, HK-NICT, SG-JP, SG-KR and MAFFIN-PH. During the long-lasting outages, TEIN2 NOC carried out close cooperation with NRENs and Partners to re-route the traffic over TEIN2 networks impacted by the outages. At APAN-JP NOC's request, TEIN2 NOC also performed emergent adjustment as so to guarantee the demonstration in APAN Manila.

New STM-16 circuit between Beijing and Copenhagen was brought into productive status
The new STM-16 circuit between Beijing and Copenhagen was funded by both TEIN2 Project and Oriental Project. After the delivery of this circuit, the total bandwidth of interconnection between Asia and Europe via TEIN2 backbone has been increased from 1.8+ Gbps to 3.7+ Gbps, by which the communication between Asia and Europe R&E networks can be improved to a great degree.

The 1st TEIN2 NOC meeting was held in Hong Kong
TEIN2 NOC hosted the 1st TEIN2 NOC meeting at Langham International Hotel in Hong Kong on 1 November, 2006. Prof. Xing Li chaired the NOC meeting, during which TEIN2 NOC carried out full discussion with EC, DANTE and TEIN2 NREN/Partners on TEIN2 operation issues. Several Action Items were proposed by all of attendees at the end of TEIN2 NOC meeting.

In order to provide inter-domain IPv4 multicast service to TEIN2 NRENs and Partners, TEIN2 NOC activated IPv4 multicast over TEIN2 backbone, including IPv4 PIM, IPv4 multicast BGP and MSDP. Now TEIN2 NOC can accept the request from TEIN2 NRENs and Partners for inter-domain IPv4 multicast peering with TEIN2 backbone.
